Alumni YWAMer Andy Byrd spoke in our class this week on intimacy with God. His character reflects his fiery red afro, and when he speaks about God's love, you forget about your hunger for lunch. Instead you start gaining a hunger to go hangout with the Lord. Here are some of his words:
1) We serve Him BECAUSE He loves us. Not to earn His love.
2) God wants to release tenacity in your life
-He said the word tenacity maybe 15 times. I've always related that word to my last name.
3) Regarding sin?
-repent and move on! (said it jokingly, yet seriously).
- no use in rolling in your failures of the past. Jesus has paid the ultimate price for you, and that should be valued. These failures should not consume your thoughts. It draws you away from the relationship you could be having with Him.
4)Sheep
-sheep have no defense mechanism. They are fluffy, have short teeth, their 'baa' isnt threatening, they are slow, and they're white fuz stands out against the green grass.
-they are also stupid. They will head toward a raging river thinking "water, water, waaater." And end up miles downstream dead.
-sheep need a shepherd. We need a shepherd. Jesus is the perfect Shepherd. He says "the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me by still waters, he restores my soul." What a promise, yes?!
5) hmm...what will the students do after outreach? Look to the SHEPHERD! We need not worry about tomorrow.
I wish I could shout this with passion like the fiery afro man. He certainly is a man of God. We learned MUCH. Lifelong applications. Present realizations. Self-righteous annihilations.
Goodnight Tallahassee. I hope you are all asleep right now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers
